Zavier Scott Headed to Maine

The Maine Black Bears picked up an offensive weapon with the news of wide receiver Zavier Scott transferring from Connecticut on Tuesday. Scott posted the news on his Twitter account.

Scott redshirted in 2017 and made an impact in 2018 when he hit the field to play in 10 games with two starts. He ran for 210 yards (6.2 yards per carry) and caught 33 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown. The 33 receptions were second-highest on the team and he even returned two kicks for 15 yards.

His 2018 season ended prematurely due to a knee injury and 2019 saw a drastic reduction in playing time. Scott appeared in only four games last season without recording any stats.

Scott will provide immediate help to the receiving corps as Maine saw its top two receivers – Earnest Edwards and Jaquan Blair – graduate. Edwards and Blair accounted for a combined 114 receptions, 1,936 yards, and 19 touchdowns when Maine went 6-6.

Maine is scheduled to start the season on Thursday, September 3 with a road trip to FBS Ball State in Muncie, Indiana.
