Two BYU Players Transfer to FCS Schools

The Weber State Wildcats and Maine Black Bears both picked up a transfer from the BYU Cougars in the last week.

Last week, Maine announced that defensive lineman Austin Chambers transferred to the school. Chambers played in 18 games over the previous three seasons recording 3 tackles during that time. Chambers is a graduate transfer this season.

Today, Weber State announced that offensive lineman Ethan Atagi was headed to Ogden, Utah. Atagi redshirted the 2018 season and played in just two games last season against Idaho State and Massachusetts. He will join Weber State as a redshirt sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining.

Atagi also joins his brother Noah who similarly redshirted in 2018 with one appearance. Noah is an anchor on the offensive line after starting 14 of 15 games last season.

Maine kicks off the season on Thursday, September 3 with a road game at FBS opponent Ball State. Meanwhile, Weber State will travel to play FBS foe Wyoming on Saturday, September 5.
