The Big South Conference has become the 10th at the FCS level to postpone or cancel its fall season. The Big South will attempt to play its conference schedule in the spring. The Big South will allow each member institution to pursue up to four non-conference games.
Two Big South schools – Hampton and Monmouth – already opted out of the fall season last month. Associate football member Robert Morris will not pursue non-conference games. The Colonials join the Big South starting with the 2021 season.
Charleston Southern and Kennesaw State have both decided against fall non-conference games. Meanwhile, Campbell will go ahead as they have scheduled a game at FBS Appalachian State for Saturday, September 26. North Alabama is also considering to play a non-conference schedule in the fall.
Former Big South member Presbyterian will also suspend its season and aim for the spring season. Presbyterian was scheduled to compete as an FCS independent this season before joining the Pioneer Football League in 2021.
Gardner-Webb currently has no scheduled games against opponents who are planning a non-conference campaign.
