The scheduling dominos from Stephen F. Austin’s move back to the Southland Conference have started. SFA informed Montana State that the two schools will not meet in 2024 or 2025 as originally planned.
SFA was scheduled to play at Montana State on Saturday, September 14, 2024 but that game has been canceled and MSU will not play a home game against Mercyhurst on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Mercyhurst is making its FCS debut in 2024 as a member of the Northeast Conference as it moves up from NCAA Division II. Montana State at SFA scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 2025 has also been canceled.
A slew of scheduling changes are expected for two conferences involved in Stephen F. Austin’s move. The United Athletic Conference and Southland will announce revised 2024 conference schedules with the Southland expected to announce its updated slate on Thursday, May 30.
