Idaho State, Weber State Bring Back Rivalry Trophy; Cal Poly, SFA, and Fordham Add Non-Conference Matchups

Idaho State and Weber State are bringing back the Train Bell Trophy beginning with the 2024 matchup. The two Big Sky rivals used an old locomotive bell as the trophy from 1964 through 1973. Following the completion of this year’s game, all previous matchups will be placed on the trophy along with logos to represent each team. Idaho State and Weber State will meet on Saturday, November 9, at 3 PM ET to contest the 65th meeting and ring in a new chapter in the rivalry.

Cal Poly (Big Sky) and Stephen F. Austin (Southland) have scheduled a home-and-home series, per FBSchedules. SFA will host the first game of the series on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Nacogdoches, Texas while Cal Poly will host the return game in September 2029. A specific date for the 2029 game was not disclosed in a copy of the contract obtained by FBSchedules. The two teams have never met in football.

Fordham (Patriot League) has released its 2025 and 2026 schedules with three new additions for the 2026 season, as noted by FBSchedules. The Rams added games against Sacred Heart (FCS Independent) at home on Saturday, September 5, Stony Brook (CAA) at home on Saturday, September 26, and a road game at Saint Francis (NEC) on Saturday, October 3. Fordham also has a non-conference game at Coastal Carolina (Sun Belt) on Saturday, September 12.
