Tre Lamb Receives Extension Through 2028

East Tennessee State (Southern) has extended head coach Tre Lamb’s contract through the 2028 season. Lamb is currently 6-5 overall in his first season with the Bucs. Lamb was hired in November 2023 by ETSU after four years in charge at Gardner-Webb. He led the Runnin’ Bulldogs to back-to-back Big South and Big South-OVC titles in 2022 and 2023, which resulted in FCS Playoff appearances in both seasons.

Lamb’s first year in Johnson City has shown noticeable improvement on both sides of the ball. ETSU went a combined 6-16 in 2022 and 2023 while the Bucs have already matched that win total in 2024 alone and could make it 7 wins if they capture the season finale at VMI. Lamb enters the VMI matchup with a career record of 26-25 overall and 16-11 in conference games.

With the extension, expectations will be higher for Lamb and ETSU in 2025. The Bucs have non-conference games against Murray State (MVFC) at home on August 30, at Tennessee (SEC) on September 6, at West Georgia on September 13, and Elon (CAA) at home on September 20.
