Colgate Fires Head Coach Stan Dakosty

Colgate (Patriot League) has fired head coach Stan Dakosty who went 16-29 overall and 12-12 in conference games over his four seasons in charge.

Dakosty was named head coach following Dan Hunt’s resignation in the spring of 2021. Hunt spent 7 years as Colgate’s head coach, leading the Raiders to three Patriot League titles and two FCS Quarterfinal appearances. Dakosty went 5-6 in his first season followed by a 3-8 finish in 2022. 2023 started 0-4 but Colgate finished the season 6-1, just a game behind the co-champions Lafayette and Holy Cross. The bottom fell out in 2024 as Colgate went 2-10 overall and 1-5 in the Patriot League to finish last.

Dakosty was a player at Colgate in 2001 and 2002 followed by a two-year stint as a student assistant. He was the running backs coach for NCAA Division III Amherst in 2005 and 2006 and returned to the Raiders in 2007 as the tight ends and fullbacks coach. In 2010, he was named the defensive backs coach and later became the associate head coach in 2017. Dakosty was named the co-defensive coordinator in 2020 alongside his associate head coach and defensive back duties.
