The Bayou Classic will continue to be broadcast by NBC through the 2027 season, NBC Sports announced on Monday, December 2. The Bayou Classic features the Grambling State Tigers and Southern Jaguars and has been shown by NBC since 1991.
Grambling State and Southern have played 76 times between 1932 and 2024 with the matchup becoming known as the Bayou Classic starting in 1974. Southern leads the all-time series 42-34 and holds a 27-24 edge since the start of the Bayou Classic in 1974. The Jaguars have won three in a row, six of the last seven, and captured the most recent game on November 30 by a margin of 24-14.
The 2025 Bayou Classic will be the 52nd meeting since 1974 and will be played on its traditional date of the Saturday following Thanksgiving. Next year’s game is scheduled for Saturday, November 29 in New Orleans, Louisiana. NBC will continue to broadcast the annual Battle of the Bands during the halftime show.
