Northern Colorado (Big Sky) and Ed Lamb have agreed to a 2-year contract extension that could keep Lamb in Greeley through the 2028 season. Lamb is 1-22 overall and 1-15 in the Big Sky in his first two seasons.
Before being hired by UNC, Lamb was the head coach at Southern Utah from 2008 through 2015. His first four seasons with the Thunderbirds were in the Great West Conference where he won the 2010 Great West title. In 2012, SUU moved to the Big Sky and the following year Lamb led the school to its first FCS Playoff appearance. In 2015 Lamb and SUU won their first Big Sky title and made a second playoff appearance. Lamb took the assistant head coach and special teams coordinator role with BYU from 2016 through 2022.
Northern Colorado has struggled in the FCS since the reclassification began in 2004. They went 6-16 in the Great West in 2004 and 2005 followed by a move to the Big Sky in 2006. The Bears have only had two winning seasons when they posted back-to-back 6-5 finishes in 2015 and 2016. Since joining the FCS, UNC is 50-173 overall and 31-123 in conference games
