The McNeese Cowboys (Southland) have finalized their 2025 non-conference schedule and will open the season against an in-state NAIA opponent. The game will mark the return of head coach Matt Viator following his departure in 2015.
The Louisiana Christian Wildcats will make the trek from Pineville to Lake Charles on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The Wildcats compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference for football of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). It is the first meeting between the two programs since 1966 when LCU was known as Louisiana College. The Cowboys won the game 31-0 and hold a 15-2 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1945.
McNeese also confirmed three other non-conference games including two against FBS foes. They will play at Louisiana-Lafayette (Sun Belt) on Saturday, September 6, host Weber State (Big Sky) on Saturday, September 13, and travel to Logan, Utah to play Utah State (Mountain West) on Saturday, September 20.
