The 2025 matchup between the Marist Red Foxes (Pioneer Football League) and the Army Black Knights (American Athletic) has officially been canceled, per a Marist press release. Had the game occurred, it would have been the first matchup between the teams in football.
Marist was scheduled to play at Army on Saturday, September 13, 2025, but Army’s move from being an FBS independent to the AAC put a majority of its future matchups in jeopardy. Another 2025 matchup between Army and Lafayette slated for Saturday, October 18 was canceled in June 2024. Ultimately, Army ended up adding Tarleton State (UAC) as its 2025 FCS opponent with that game scheduled for Saturday, August 30.
Marist hasn’t announced its 2025 schedule and none of the school’s non-conference opponents are known. Marist went 1-10 overall and 1-7 in the Pioneer Football League in 2024 during Mike Willis’s first year as head coach.
