The East Texas A&M Lions (Southland) will open the 2025 season with two ACC opponents. The Lions announced their first game of 2025 will be at SMU on Saturday, August 30. The Lions will play at Florida State the following week on Saturday, September 6.
ETAMU has played two previous games against the FBS with losses at Old Dominion 10-9 in 2023 and San Diego State 45-14 in 2024. The 2025 games against the ACC mark the first time the school is playing a Power 4 opponent and the first time the Lions will face two FBS opponents in the same year. Beyond 2025, the Lions have a game against Tulsa (American Athletic) scheduled for September 19, 2026.
The Lions are coming off a 3-9 season and finished 7th in the Southland in 2024. SMU went 11-3 overall and reached the College Football Playoff for the first time before losing a 38-10 contest at Penn State (Big Ten) in the first round. East Texas A&M’s full 2025 schedule is not known but the school plans to release it shortly.
