The Jackson State Tigers (SWAC) will play the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (Sun Belt) on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi according to FBSchedules.
Jackson State will receive $375,000 for the game, which will be the fourth all-time meeting between the schools in football. Southern Miss won all three previous games, including the most recent matchup in 2018 by a score of 55-7. The teams first met in 1987 and played a second time in 2002.
Jackson State has no known future future FBS opponents scheduled beyond 2025. Southern Miss has a 2026 game against Alcorn State (SWAC) slated for Saturday, September 5. JSU is coming off a 12-2 campaign in 2024 in which the Tigers won the SWAC Championship and the Celebration Bowl en route to the 2024 HBCU National Championship.
Jackson State is scheduled to start the 2025 season at home against Hampton (CAA) on Saturday, August 30.
