The Wagner Seahawks (Northeast) and California Golden Bears (ACC) have scheduled a 2026 matchup for Saturday, September 19, according to an announcement by California. The two teams have not previously met in football.
Wagner is winless in its 19 games against FBS opposition dating back to 2012. The Seahawks are scheduled to play at Kansas (Big 12) and Central Michigan (MAC) in 2025, James Madison (Sun Belt) in 2026, and Massachusetts (MAC) in 2028. Wagner has played two FBS opponents each year since 2021.
California is scheduled to play at home against Texas Southern (SWAC) on Saturday, September 6, 2025. The Golden Bears do not have any additional FCS opponent scheduled beyond the Wagner matchup in 2026. Cal is 16-0 all-time against the FCS since the first matchup in 2005. Wagner will be the first time the Golden Bears have played a Northeast Conference opponent in football.
Wagner has not released its 2025 schedule and only one other opponent is known outside Kansas and Central Michigan. The Seahawks will play at Georgetown (Patriot League) on Saturday, September 6.
