The Dragons will play at the Texas Southern Tigers (SWAC) on October 18 and the Sacred Heart Pioneers (FCS Independent) on November 8. VUL and Texas Southern met in the 2024 season with the Tigers winning 28-10 in the first meeting between the schools. VUL and Sacred Heart haven’t met in football. The Dragons will have four FCS opponents for the 2025 season. In addition to Texas Southern and Sacred Heart, VUL will play at Valparaiso (Pioneer) on August 30 and Morgan State (MEAC) on October 11.
Virginia-Lynchburg has become a frequent opponent for FCS teams in the last decade. The four VUL-FCS games in 2025 represent the fewest number of matchups since 2018 when there were also four games. The Dragons are winless in 47 games versus the FCS with an average final score of 51-8 in favor of the FCS. VUL’s 21-13 loss at Presbyterian in 2022 was the closest result to date.
