The Delaware State Hornets (MEAC) unveiled their 2025 schedule, which includes two NCAA Division II programs. The Hornets will start the 2025 season with games against Delaware (C-USA) on Thursday, August 28 and Albany (CAA) on Saturday, September 6.
Delaware State will play against the Bowie State Bullodgs on Saturday, September 13 in Dover, Delaware. The Bulldogs are located in Bowie, Maryland and compete in the NCAA Division II Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). DSU and BSU have met six times since the first contest in 1933 with Delaware State winning four games. The most recent matchup occurred in 2023 when Bowie State took an early lead and never relinquished it in a 22-11 victory in the season opener.
DSU will then play three straight non-conference road games against Saint Francis (NEC) on September 20, Sacred Heart (Independent) on September 27, and Monmouth (CAA) on October 4. The final non-conference game will be Delaware State’s homecoming on Saturday, October 11 against the Southern Connecticut State Owls. The Owls are located in New Haven, Connecticut and are a member of the Northeast-10 Conference. The two schools haven’t met in football.
The Hornets will have a bye on October 18 before playing its MEAC schedule in five consecutive weeks to end the 2025 regular season. They will start at North Carolina Central on October 25, welcome Norfolk State to Dover on November 1, and play at Morgan State on November 8. The final two MEAC games will be at home versus Howard on November 15 and South Carolina State on November 22.
Delaware State went 1-11 in 2024 and fired head coach Lee Hull after the season. Hull went 2-21 overall and winless in 10 MEAC games during his two seasons in charge. The Hornets hired former NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson in late December as the school’s next head coach.
