The Illinois State Redbirds (MVFC) will play at the Wisconsin Badgers (Big Ten) in the 2029 season. The two teams will meet in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, September 8, 2029.
Illinois State and Wisconsin have played once before in 2022 when the Badgers shut out the Redbirds 38-0. Illinois State has one victory against a Big Ten opponent, which came in 2016 when they defeated Northwestern 9-7. The Redbirds are slated to play Oklahoma (SEC) in 2025, Northern Illinois (Mountain West) in 2026, Missouri (SEC) in 2027, and Illinois (Big Ten) in 2028.
The Badgers do not have an FCS opponent for the 2025 season but will have one each of the next four seasons. They will welcome Western Illinois (OVC-Big South) in 2026, Southern Illinois (MVFC) in 2027, and William & Mary (CAA) in 2028. Wisconsin is 14-0 all-time versus FCS opponents including a 7-0 record against the MVFC.
