The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (OVC-Big South) unveiled their 2025 schedule, which includes an opening game at home against the Cumberland Phoenix on Saturday, August 30.
Cumberland is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Mid-South Conference. The Phoenix went 7-3 overall in 2024, the best season since a 7-4 campaign in 2017. Tennessee Tech and Cumberland have met 15 previous times with the Golden Eagles holding a slight 7-6-1 edge in the series. The most recent matchup occurred in 2013 when Tennessee Tech throttled Cumberland 63-7 in Cookeville.
Tennessee Tech will then have an additional two non-conference home games against Chattanooga (SoCon) on September 6 and Davidson (PFL) on September 13. OVC-Big South play begins on Saturday, September 27 with a matchup at Tennessee State.
October will feature a home game on Saturday, October 4 against Western Illinois followed by back-to-back road contests at Charleston Southern on Saturday, October 11 and Lindenwood on Saturday, October 18. The month ends with the Golden Eagles hosting Southeast Missouri State on Saturday, October 25.
Tennessee Tech will open November with homecoming on Saturday, November 1, against Gardner-Webb and a final conference road game at Eastern Illinois on Saturday, November 8. The Golden Eagles will wrap up non-conference in the penultimate regular season game at Kentucky (SEC) on Saturday, November 15. The final game will be at home in the OVC-Big South finale on Saturday, November 22 against in-state foe UT Martin.
Tennessee Tech went 7-5 overall while earning a share of the Big South-OVC title in 2024. It was TTU’s first conference title since 2011 although the Golden Eagles were not selected for the FCS Playoffs. In December, head coach Bobby Wilder was given a contract extension that could keep him in Cookeville through the 2029 season.
