St. Thomas Adds Northern Michigan for 2026 Matchup

The St. Thomas Tommies (PFL) will play at home against Northern Michigan on Saturday, September 12, 2026, as part of a home-and-home series. FBSchedules was the first to report the 2026 matchup.

Northern Michigan is a member of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) located in Marquette, Michigan. The Tommies are scheduled to play at Northern Michigan for the 2025 season on September 13, which will be the first matchup of the two schools. The 2025 and 2026 games against St. Thomas will be the first time Northern Michigan has played against an FCS opponent since 2003. The Wildcats played at Northern Iowa to start the 2003 campaign, losing 62-0.

St. Thomas has played against at least one Division II opponent since moving up to the FCS in 2021. The Tommies played at the Michigan Tech Huskies (GLIAC) in 2021, emerging with a 12-9 victory, and also won the return game at home 32-6 a year later. In 2023, St. Thomas defeated the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets (RMAC) 36-26 in the season opener. Last year, the Tommies played two D-II opponents, losing the season opener 34-13 against the Sioux Falls Cougars (NSIC) and defeating Black Hills State 24-14 two weeks later.

St. Thomas is one of two FCS teams to play on the road against a non-Division I opponent this year, along with Butler at Hanover College (D-III) on the same day. There are 58 games scheduled featuring FCS versus non-Division I opponents in 2025.
