The New Haven Chargers announced their 2025 schedule, which will be the first as a member of the FCS. New Haven is moving from the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 Conference to NCAA Division I and the Northeast Conference for the 2025-26 academic year.
The late change forced the Chargers to scrap the original schedule filled with NE-10 foes. New Haven assembled a 10-game schedule featuring 7 FCS teams and three schools outside Division I and will navigate the season with an interim head coach after Chris Pincince was let go shortly after the school announced the move up to D-I. Mark Powell will be leading the team for the 2025 season.
The season and first game as an FCS program will begin on Friday, August 29 at Marist (PFL). The Chargers will then play at Mercyhurst (NEC) on Saturday, September 6 and at Albany (CAA) on Saturday, September 13.
Three of the next four games will be against NCAA Division II and III opposition, starting with Saginaw Valley State on Saturday, September 20. SVSU is a member of the D-II Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). After a game at Duquesne (NEC) on Saturday, September 27, New Haven will have back-to-back home games against Pace University (Northeast-10) on Saturday, October 4, and Western Connecticut State (NCAA D-III Little East Conference) on Saturday, October 11.
New Haven will have a bye week on Saturday, October 18, and then end its first FCS campaign at Long Island (NEC) on Saturday, October 25, at Sacred Heart (FCS Independent) on Saturday, November 1, and a home game against Merrimack (FCS Independent) on Saturday, November 8.
