McNeese to Face Louisiana Christian in 2027

The McNeese Cowboys (Southland) are scheduled to play against the Louisiana Christian Wildcats twice in three seasons, according to McNeese’s athletic website. FBSchedules was the first to report the addition. McNeese will welcome Louisiana Christian to Lake Charles on Saturday, September 4, 2027.

Louisiana Christian is located in Pineville, Louisiana, and is a member of the NAIA’s Sooner Athletic Conference. The two teams have played 19 times, dating back to the first matchups in 1945, and the Cowboys have a 17-2 advantage in the series. McNeese won both games in 1945 against the then-named Louisiana College by the same 12-0 margin. The most recent game was in 1966 when McNeese posted a 31-0 shutout at home.

The 2027 tilt between McNeese and Louisiana Christian is the fifth FCS versus non-Division I game scheduled that season. Thomas MoreDayton (9/4), Texas A&M-KingsvilleUTRGV (9/4), Virginia-LynchburgMorgan State (10/9), and Virginia WiseEast Tennessee State (TBD) are the other four such matchups.

McNeese and Louisiana Christian are slated to kickoff the 2025 season on Saturday, August 30, in one of 63 FCS versus non-Division I games set for this year. The Cowboys are coming off a 6-6 season in 2024, while the Wildcats went 4-7 overall in the NAIA.
