Austin Peay, Lehigh Extend Head Coaches

The Austin Peay Governors and Lehigh Mountain Hawks have extended their head coaches after their respective 2025 seasons.

Austin Peay extended Jeff Faris‘s contract, following a 7-5 campaign, which included a big 34-14 win over Middle Tennessee to start the season. The Governors nearly pulled an upset of Tarleton State in the season finale, but fell in overtime, 45-44. The loss kept Austin Peay out of the playoffs and they were one of the first four teams out of the bracket. Farris was hired in December 2023 to take over for Scotty Walden, who left for UTEP. is 11-13 overall and 7-9 in UAC games during his two years at Austin Peay, while the new contract runs through the 2030 season.

Kevin Cahill received an extension from Lehigh after its 2025 campaign ended in the second round of the FCS Playoffs against Villanova. Lehigh went 12-0 in the regular season, received the 5th overall seed in the playoffs, and Cahill won the Eddie Robinson Award as National FCS Coach of the Year. Cahill is 23-14 overall and 13-6 in Patriot League games in his three seasons. He captured the conference title each of the two years and reached the second round both seasons.
