Division I-AA Seasons: 1978 Through 1979

The 1970 – 1979 decade of the FCS was a short one, given that it comprised only two seasons. The split of Division I into FBS and FCS took place in 1978 with Florida A&M capturing the inaugural FCS National Title. Through the 2019 season, it is the only National Title for both FAMU and a Historically Black College and University member. 1979 saw Eastern Kentucky capture their first FCS title.
