FCS Playoffs: Overtime Games

Between 1978 and 2025, there have been 768 FCS playoff games and 33 have ended in overtime, which equates to about 4.3% of all FCS playoff games played since the creation of the subdivision in 1978. To date, no game has lasted more than three overtimes, nine games have lasted two overtimes, and 21 games ended after one overtime.

The Big Sky has played in the most overtime games at 13 and also has the most OT wins at 9. Among individual teams, Montana and Nevada have the most overtime games, with fou,r and both have identical 3-1 records in those games. Below are tables showing all 33 overtime games since 1978, followed by overtime records for each conference and team.
