Mercyhurst is scheduled to play against NCAA Division III Buffalo State on Saturday, October 5, 2024, according to BSU’s social media posting. Buffalo State plays its football in the Liberty League. Mercyhurst is 7-9 all-time against the Bengals with all previous matchups occurring between 1981 and 1997. Mercyhurst lost seven straight games to the Bengals between 1990 and 1997 and the most recent victory occurred in a 38-20 home meeting during the 1989 season.
The Lakers are moving up to the FCS and the Northeast Conference in 2024. Mercyhurst currently has two non-Division I opponents scheduled this year: a road game at D-II Wheeling from the Mountain East Conference on Thursday, August 29 and now Buffalo State on Saturday, October 5. The FCS as a whole has scheduled 55 matchups against teams outside Division I.
Southeastern Louisiana added the Troy Trojans to its 2027 football schedule. The two programs will meet on Saturday, September 4 in Troy, Alabama. The two teams have met 19 previous times with the Lions holding an 11-8 edge all-time. The most recent game was in 2003 when Troy won 28-0 at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Troy has two additional FCS opponents on its future schedules: Florida A&M in 2024 and Nicholls in 2025. The Lions have 6 future FBS games scheduled other than the Troy contest in 2027: Tulane and Southern Miss in 2024, Louisiana Tech in 2025, South Alabama and Louisiana-Monroe in 2026, and Oklahoma State in 2028.
With the SE Louisiana-Troy matchup announced, there are now 440 future FCS versus FBS games scheduled through 2034 including a record 121 games in 2024.
