The Charleston Southern Buccaneers (Big South-OVC) and Elon Phoenix (CAA) have both scheduled a future game against the Charlotte 49ers (American), per FBSchedules. Elon will match up first against Charlotte on Saturday, September 11, 2027, and will receive $315,000 for the contest. The teams have split the two games played all-time with Elon winning 20-13 in 2014 when Charlotte was a member of the FCS while Charlotte won 47-14 in 2016 as a member of C-USA.
Charleston Southern will visit Charlotte the following year on Saturday, September 2, 2028, and will also be paid $315,000 for the game. The contract stipulates the game could potentially be moved to Thursday, August 31 or Friday, September 1. Charleston Southern won both games against Charlotte in 2013 (36-14) and 2014 (47-41) when Charlotte competed as an FCS Independent prior to its move to the FBS.
Incarnate Word (Southland) is set to play against the University of Texas at San Antonio (American) in 2025, according to FBSchedules. UIW will travel to UTSA on Saturday, September 13, 2025, and receive $325,000 for the contest. UTSA won the lone previous meeting in 2019 by a score of 35-7. The addition of the UIW-UTSA game puts the number of 2025 FCS versus FBS matchups at 100. A full listing of all future FCS-FBS games can be found here.
