Fordham and Illinois State Adjust Future Schedules; Lamar Adds Texas State in 2029

Fordham has made several adjustments to its 2025 schedule to accommodate the addition of Richmond to the Patriot League. As noted by FBSchedules, the following changes have been made:

  • Fordham at Colgate has been moved to Saturday, September 20 from its previous date of Saturday, November 1.
  • Holy Cross at Fordham has been moved to Saturday, September 27 from its previous date of Saturday, October 11.
  • Fordham at Central Connecticut State has been removed from its date on Saturday, September 27.
  • Fordham will have a bye on Saturday, October 11.
  • Fordham at Richmond has been scheduled for Saturday, November 1.

Two additional changes as a result of Fordham’s schedule change impact Albany, Colgate, and Cornell. Cornell’s 2025 season opener at home against Colgate on Saturday, September 20 has been swapped with the Albany game two weeks later. Cornell will now travel to Albany to start the 2025 season on Saturday, September 20, and the Colgate game will be played at home on Saturday, October 4.

Illinois State (MVFC) has changed its 2028 matchup versus Illinois (Big Ten), according to a social media post. Illinois State will now travel to Champaign on Saturday, September 9, 2028, instead of the original date of Saturday, September 2. The two teams met in 1944, 2003, and 2009 with Illinois winning all three games.

Lamar (Southland) is set to face Texas State (Sun Belt) in 2029, according to FBSchedules. Lamar will play at Texas State on Saturday, September 1, 2029, and will earn $350,000 for the contest. The two sides met on Saturday, August 31, with Lamar dropping a 34-27 game and making a late push following the recovery of an onside kick in the final minute. Texas State holds a 16-6-1 lead in the all-time series dating back to 1951. There are over 350 FCS versus FBS scheduled between 2025 and 2034 with a full listing available here.
