Charleston Southern (Big South-OVC) and Vanderbilt (SEC) have scheduled a 2025 matchup, according to FBSchedules. The two schools will meet on Saturday, August 30 for the second time. Vanderbilt survived the first matchup in 2014 after holding a 21-10 halftime lead followed by 10 unanswered points from the Buccaneers. CSU forced a turnover down 21-20 but couldn’t turn it into any points as Vandy ran out the clock. There are now 106 FCS-FBS matchups scheduled for the 2025 season.
South Carolina State (MEAC) and Coastal Carolina (Sun Belt) will meet on Saturday, September 4, 2027, per FBSchedules. South Carolina State will receive $325,000 for the contest. The two teams have met five times with Coastal Carolina winning all 5 previous matchups. The SCSU-CCU matchup pushes the total FCS-FBS matchups for the 2027 season to 63.
UTRGV (Southland) has been busy adding several opponents to its future schedule as noted by FBSchedules. The Vaqueros added North American University and Texas Wesleyan from the Sooner Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) for the 2025 season. UTRGV will host NAU on Saturday, September 13 followed by TWU the following week on Saturday, September 20. UTRGV will also play at Rice (American Athletic) for the 2028 season on Saturday, September 9.
Houston Christian (Southland) has added NAIA-independent Arkansas Baptist to its 2025 and 2026 schedules. The Huskies will host ABU on Saturday, August 30, 2025, and Saturday, September 12, 2026. HCU crushed Arkansas Baptist 66-0 in the first meeting between the schools in 2023.
