Kendrick Wade is no longer the head coach at Mississippi Valley State (SWAC). Wade went 2-21 in his two seasons and is the third SWAC coaching change this offseason following moves by Alabama A&M and Prairie View A&M.
The Delta Devils opened the 2023 season with back-to-back losses to NCAA Division II opponents Central State and Delta State followed by three more losses. They defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff in mid-October but lost the next five games to finish 1-10 overall and 1-7 in the SWAC. MVSU opened the 2024 season with 10 straight losses and then pulled the shocking upset at Florida A&M on November 16 before losing the season finale to finish 1-11 overall and 1-7 in the SWAC. The Delta Devils finished last in the SWAC East both seasons.
Wade played collegiately at MVSU from 2003 through 2005 as a wide receiver and eventually became the wide receivers coach for the Delta Devils in 2017. He spent a year as the WR coach for the NAIA’s Briar Cliff Chargers in 2019 and then spent two years at D-II Fort Valley State in 2020 and 2021 as the WR coach and passing game coordinator. Wade returned to MVSU in 2022 as the WR coach and passing game coordinator before he was named head coach.
