Merrimack (FCS Independent) has scheduled a game against Kent State (MAC) in 2025. The two teams will play on Saturday, August 30, according to FBSchedules. It will be the first football matchup between the schools.
Merrimack is 0-3 all-time against FBS opponents with losses against Massachusetts (31-21), Air Force (21-6), and Connecticut (63-17). They will be traveling to a Kent State team on a 21-game losing streak with one of those losses provided by the Northeast Conference’s Saint Francis Red Flash in September 2024. The last win for Kent State was against Central Connecticut State on September 16, 2023. Kent State is 27-11 against FCS opponents dating back to the 1978 Division I split.
Merrimack is also slated to face future FBS team Delaware in 2026 as the Blue Hens begin a move to Conference USA in July 2025. Kent State has no additional FCS opponents currently known other than Merrimack next year. For the 2025 season, there are now 115 FCS-FBS matchups scheduled, which is 6 fewer than the record set in 2024.
