The Saint Francis Red Flash (NEC) and Louisiana-Monroe Warkhawks are set to meet in 2025, according to ULM athletic director John Hartwell as first reported by FBSchedules. A specific date was not provided other than the game will open the season for ULM. Saint Francis and ULM have not met in football.
Saint Francis is coming off a 4-7 season in 2024 but one of those wins was against Kent State (MAC), which was the first win over an FBS team in school history. SFU will also play at Buffalo (MAC) on Saturday, September 6, which will be the second straight season with two FBS opponents. Beyond the 2025 season, the Red Flash have games FBS matchups in 2026 versus Bowling Green (MAC), 2027 versus Ohio (MAC), and 2030 against West Virginia (Big 12). The Red Flash are 1-4 all-time against FBS foes.
Louisiana-Monroe has one additional future FCS program scheduled for 2026 with a home game against Southeastern Louisiana (Southland). The Warhawks will have six straight seasons with an FCS opponent with SFU and SELA included. ULM hasn’t lost to an FCS team since 2005 when Northwestern State won 27-23.
With the Saint Francis and Louisiana-Monroe matchup revealed, there are a record-tying number of FCS-FBS games slated for 2025. A full listing of all future FCS-FBS matchups, including the 121 FCS-FBS in 2025, can be found here.
