UT Martin Schedules 3 FBS Opponents for 2025

The Tennessee Martin Skyhawks (Big South-OVC) announced their 2025 schedule, which includes three FBS opponents in the opening four games.

The Skyhawks will open at Oklahoma State (Big 12) on Saturday, August 30, followed by UTEP (C-USA) a week later on September 6. It will be the first meeting for UT Martin against the Cowboys and Miners. After a home game against Southern Illinois (MVFC) on Saturday, September 13, the Skyhawks will end the non-conference slate on the road at Missouri State (C-USA). The Bears are moving up to the FBS and C-USA in 2025. It will be the 9th all-time meeting between UTM and MSU with the Bears holding a 7-1 lead in the series.

The most recent FCS team to play three or more FBS teams in one season was Gardner-Webb in 2022 when the Bulldogs played against Coastal Carolina, Liberty, and Marshall. UT Martin has played three FBS teams once before in 2016 when they faced Cincinnati, Hawaii, and Georgia State. UT Martin has future FBS opponents lined up for the 2026, 2027, and 2028 seasons. The Skyhawks will take on Memphis (American) and West Virginia (Big 12) in 2026, Ball State (MAC) and UCF (Big 12) in 2027, and Alabama (SEC) in 2028.

With the UT Martin-Missouri State game known, there are now a record 122 FCS versus FBS matchups scheduled for the 2025 season. The previous record was set last season when 121 FCS-FBS games were played. A full listing of all future FCS-FBS contests, including the 122 for 2025, can be found here.
