The Incarnate Word Cardinals (Southland) have added a 2027 matchup against the Baylor Bears (Big 12), according to the school’s athletic site and as reported by FBSchedules. The two teams will meet in Waco, Texas on Saturday, September 4, 2027, in what is currently scheduled to be the first football matchup between the schools.
Incarnate Word currently has four known future FBS opponents scheduled with all four against in-state foes. The Cardinals will play against UTSA (American) in 2025, Texas State (Sun Belt) in 2026, Baylor in 2027, and Texas Tech (Big 12) in 2028. UIW is 2-8 all-time against the FBS with two wins in the last three years versus Texas State in 2021 and Nevada in 2022.
Baylor is slated to play against Samford (Southern) in 2025 on September 13 and also has a 2026 contest scheduled against Prairie View (SWAC). The Bears are 28-1 all-time against the FCS with the lone blemish occurring in 2017 when Liberty stunned Baylor in Waco 48-45.
