The Alabama State Hornets (SWAC) completed their 2025 schedule, including two games against NCAA Division II programs. The Hornets went 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the SWAC in 2024. Alabama State will start the season on Thursday, August 28 at UAB (American Athletic) followed by a non-conference game at fellow SWAC member Southern on Saturday, September 6.
The Hornets will then take on the Miles College Golden Bears from the NCAA Division II Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). Miles went 10-3 overall, won the SIAC Championship, and reached the second round of the D-II playoffs in 2024. The first-round victory against Carson-Newman was the school’s win in the D-II playoffs. Alabama State and Miles met in 2024 with the Hornets winning 24-3. The Hornets are 21-2 all-time against Miles dating back to the first game in 1930.
Alabama State will begin SWAC play on Saturday, September 27 with alternating road and home games over the following nine weeks. ASU plays at Florida A&M on September 27, home to Bethune-Cookman on October 4, at Jackson State on October 11, home to Alabama A&M on October 25, at Prairie View A&M on November 1, home to Texas Southern on November 8, at Mississippi Valley State on November 15, and home to Arkansas-Pine Bluff on November 22.
The season finale will be the Turkey Day Classic against Tuskegee (SIAC) on Thursday, November 27. It will be the 85th all-time meeting between the two schools with Tuskegee holding a 46-37-1 advantage in the series. Alabama State has won the last three Turkey Day Classics versus Tuskegee in 2021, 2023, and 2024.
