Prairie View A&M and UTRGV Won’t Face North American University in 2025

The Prairie View A&M Panthers (SWAC) and UTRGV Vaqueros (Southland) will not be playing North American University in the upcoming 2025 season after NAU announced it has discontinued its football program. The Stallions played football as a member of the Sooner Athletic Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

UTRGV was set to host North American on Saturday, September 13 in its third-ever football game. Meanwhile, Prairie View and North American were scheduled to meet on Saturday, October 25 in Prairie View, Texas for PVAMU’s homecoming game. It is not known if either FCS program will fill the vacancy.

North American University played and lost to 7 FCS opponents in its four seasons between 2021 and 2024. The Stallions were outscored a combined 486-12 without ever scoring a touchdown and gave up at least 47 points in each matchup. The 2023 matchup against Portland State (Big Sky) resulted in a 91-0 shutout victory by the Vikings.
