The Davidson Wildcats (PFL) have added the Greensboro College Pride for the 2025 season, according to Davidson’s website and first reported by FBSchedules. Greensboro is a member of the NCAA Division III USA South Athletic Conference.
Greensboro will play at Davidson on Saturday, September 20, with a kickoff set for 7 PM Eastern Time. Greensboro and Davidson met once before with the Wildcats winning 32-7 in 2005. The 2025 game is replacing the previous matchup featuring St. Andrews University from the NAIA and Davidson. St. Andrews closed at the end of the 2025 spring semester, leaving the Wildcats without an opponent for September 20.
The FCS and NCAA Division III will play three games in 2025, and the PFL will be featured in all three matchups. Adrian College will travel to Valparaiso on September 6, Butler will play at Hanover College on September 13, and Greensboro College will be at Davidson on September 20. A total of 59 games are scheduled between FCS and non-Division I teams for the 2025 season. The PFL and SWAC are tied for the most such matchups at 14 apiece.
Davidson is coming off a 6-5 season in 2024 and saw head coach Scott Abell leave for Rice in the offseason after seven successful seasons with the Wildcats. Saj Thakkar was hired from NCAA Division II Bentley University to replace Abell and will start the season on Saturday, August 30, at home versus Georgetown (Patriot League).
