Idaho State, Youngstown State Add Future FBS Opponents

The Idaho State Bengals (Big Sky) and Youngstown State Penguins (MVFC) have added future games against FBS foes.

Idaho State will play at the Nevada Wolf Pack (Mountain West) on Saturday, September 4, 2027. The schools have met 31 times dating back to 1936, with Nevada holding a 19-12 lead in the series. The most recent game was in 2021 when Nevada defeated Idaho State 49-10. The Bengals won the 2017 meeting 30-28, which was the school’s most recent victory over an FBS team.

Idaho State now has at least one FBS opponent on its schedule through the 2028 season. The Bengals will play Mountain West schools New Mexico and UNLV in 2025, at Utah State (Pac-12) in 2026, Nevada in 2027, and Wyoming (Mountain West) in 2028. Nevada will continue its Big Sky opponent trend through at least the 2027 season. The Wolf Pack played Idaho in 2023 (lost 33-6), Eastern Washington in 2024, and will face Sacramento State this season, Montana State in 2026, and Idaho State in 2027.

Youngstown State will stay within Ohio’s borders when it plays at the Ohio State Buckeyes (Big Ten) on Saturday, September 15, 2029. The two schools have met three previous times, with the Buckeyes winning all three games in 2007, 2008, and 2023. Youngstown State is also scheduled to play against Michigan State (Big Ten) in 2025, Kentucky (SEC) in 2026, and Maryland (Big Ten) in 2027. Ohio State will play against Grambling State (SWAC) this year and New Hampshire (CAA) in 2027.

There are over 420 FCS versus FBS games scheduled through the 2034 season, including 70 for 2027 and 28 for 2029. A full list of the future FCS-FBS games can be found here.
