The East Texas A&M Lions (Southland) will play at the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns (Sun Belt) in 2027. ETAMU will make the trip to Lafayette, Louisiana, on Saturday, September 11.
East Texas A&M and Louisiana have met six previous times between 1939 and 1969, when Louisiana was known as Southwestern Louisiana. East Texas A&M leads the series 4-2, including the most recent matchup in 1969 when the Lions won 24-13 in Lafayette.
East Texas A&M has at least one FBS opponent scheduled for the next three seasons. The Lions will face a pair of ACC teams this season in SMU on August 30 and Florida State on September 6. In 2026, ETAMU will play at Tulsa (American) on Saturday, September 19, and at Louisiana in 2027. East Texas A&M is 0-2 against FBS opponents in its short FCS existence, which includes the 10-9 nailbiter in 2023 against Old Dominion (Sun Belt).
Louisiana has a trio of Southland Conference opponents lined up for the next three years. The Ragin’ Cajuns will play against McNeese on Saturday, September 6, 2025, Lamar on Saturday, September 5, 2026, and East Texas A&M in 2027. Louisiana hasn’t lost to an FCS team since McNeese’s 38-17 victory in 2007.
