There were numerous date changes for 2024 FCS-FBS matchups in the last week and all the changes are summarized in a table at the bottom of this article. The first was Eastern Illinois changed its date against Illinois from Saturday, August 24 to Saturday, August 31. A second change was Indiana State’s matchup at Purdue was moved from Saturday, September 7 to Saturday, August 31. Western Carolina’s game against North Carolina State was moved from Saturday, August 31 to Thursday, August 29.
Duquesne’s opening week game against Toledo was changed from Saturday, August 31 to Thursday, August 29 according to Toledo’s future schedules. Duquesne and Boston College will play in a previously unannounced game on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The two schools have not previously met with Duquesne having a 1-8 all-time record against FBS foes and played one ACC team (a 47-7 loss to Florida State in 2022).
Lehigh’s game against Army was moved from Saturday, August 31 to Friday, August 30. Finally, the matchup between Merrimack and Connecticut will take place on Saturday, September 7. The game was previously announced but a final date was not provided.
Added to the list of 2024 FCS versus FBS matchups was Long Island traveling to face TCU but it is not yet known which date that game will take place. LIU has been a member of the FCS since 2019 and has already played seven FBS opponents with all seven matchups occurring since 2021 (LIU is 0-7 in those games). The Sharks have one other FBS opponent on their future schedule against Eastern Michigan in 2025.
Falling off the list of 2024 FCS-FBS matchups is Alabama State at UAB, which was originally scheduled for Thursday, August 29. The Hornets are now scheduled to play North Carolina Central in the Orange Bottom Classic on Sunday, September 1. Those two teams are still slated to meet in 2025. UAB replaced Alabama State with another SWAC opponent – Alcorn State – and that matchup will take place on Thursday, August 29.
Colgate has added a road game at Syracuse to be played on Saturday, September 13, 2025, which was not previously revealed. Colgate has played Syracuse 5 times since 1982 with Syracuse winning all five matchups. The two teams most recently met in 2023 when Syracuse won 65-0. Colgate also has FCS-FBS matchups scheduled against Akron (2024), Central Michigan (2026), Colorado (2027), and Kansas (2029).
There are 115 FCS-FBS games currently scheduled for the 2024 season while the 2025 season has inched up to 97. A full list of future FCS versus FBS games can be found here.
