The Pioneer Football League has added two more Division II opponents for the 2024 season following the schedule releases by Morehead State and Valparaiso.
Morehead State will open the season at home on Thursday, August 29 against Central State from the Division II Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA). The two teams have met once previously in 1973 when the Eagles lost 31-24 at Central State to begin the season. Morehead State will also host the NAIA’s Kentucky Christian a week later.
Valparaiso completed its 2024 schedule with a home game against Roosevelt University on Saturday, September 21. Roosevelt will reclassify from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) at the NCAA Division II level beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. The two schools have not previously matched up in football.
With the latest additions, the FCS has 54 matchups scheduled against Non-Division I opponents in 2024 with the PFL leading the way at 17. A full list of those matchups can be found here.
