Western Carolina Adds East Carolina for 2027; MEAC Unveils 2024 ESPN Schedule

Western Carolina will meet East Carolina in 2027, according to FBSchedules. The Catamounts will travel to Greenville to play the Pirates on Saturday, September 4, 2027. Western Carolina will receive $425,000 for the contest. Per the Western Carolina record books, ECU holds an 18-13 lead in the series dating back to 1936 with ECU holding an 8-game winning streak. The total number of future FCS versus FBS matchups is 550 for the 2024 through 2034 seasons. A full list of those games can be found here.

East Tennessee State and Murray State have agreed to a home-and-home series for the 2025 and 2028 seasons, according to FBSchedules. ETSU will host the first game on Saturday, August 30, 2025 while Murray State will play host three seasons later on Saturday, September 2, 2028. The two teams have met 21 times and the series is split evenly at 9-9-3. The last meeting occurred in 1978 with Murray State prevailing 34-21 at home.

The MEAC has announced its 2024 TV schedule for ESPN telecasts, allowing all six teams to be featured nationally multiple times. 11 games will be shown on either ESPNU or ESPN+ between Saturday, September 21 and Saturday, November 16. Every team will have at least three games televised with North Carolina Central having 4 thanks to its September 21 non-conference game versus North Carolina A&T on ESPNU.
