Cal Poly (Big Sky) and Fresno State (Mountain West) will meet in 2028, according to Fresno State’s recent release of future non-conference games. Cal Poly will travel to Fresno on Saturday, September 16 for the matchup. Fresno State leads the all-time series 34-10-2 including 9 victories in a row. Fresno State also confirmed previously known matchups against Southern (SWAC) in 2025, Sacramento State (Big Sky) in 2026, and Utah Tech (UAC) in 2027.
Also adding a game for the 2028 season are William & Mary (CAA) and Wisconsin (Big Ten), per FBSchedules. The two teams will meet in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, September 9 with the Tribe receiving $600,000 for the contest. The two teams have never played in football. There are now 48 FCS versus FBS games scheduled for the 2028 season and a full list of all future FCS-FBS matchups can be found here.
Davidson (Pioneer Football League) and VMI (SoCon) have scheduled a three-game series starting in 2029, according to FBSchedules. VMI will host the first two games on Saturday, September 15, 2029, and Saturday, September 6, 2031. Davidson will host the final series in the game on Saturday, September 4, 2032. VMI holds a commanding 41-17-3 lead in the all-time series and has won 12 games in a row against Davidson.
