Mike Uremovich Leaving Butler to Join Ball State

Butler (Pioneer) head coach Mike Uremovich has been hired for the same role at Ball State (MAC). Uremovich went 23-11 overall and didn’t have a losing season in his three years with the Bulldogs. Butler became the fifth PFL team to see a head coaching change this offseason following Davidson, Drake, Stetson, and Valparaiso.

Butler posted identical 7-4 overall and 5-3 PFL records in Uremovich’s first two years in 2022 and 2023. The Bulldogs finished 4th in the PFL both seasons. In 2024, Butler went 9-3 overall and 5-3 in the PFL to finish in a tie for 3rd place. Uremovich’s three straight seasons with a winning record were the first since Bill Lynch from 1987 through 1989. Butler went 15-9 in PFL games in Uremovich’s tenure with 6 of those 9 losses by a touchdown or less.

Uremovich started his coaching career at the high school level in 1996 and became an assistant at the college level from 2000 through 2004. In 2005, he was named head coach at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. He led the Fighting Saints to a 10-3 campaign and an appearance in the NAIA Quarterfinals in 2011 as he went 33-45 overall and 20-30 in conference games. In 2012, he returned to the FBS as an assistant at Northern Illinois, joined NC State a year later, returned to NIU from 2016 through 2018, and was the co-offensive coordinator at Temple from 2019 through 2021.
