The city of Nashville, Tennessee is hoping to host two FCS National Championship games as the current host of Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas undergoes renovations. The Nashville Sports Council made a presentation and an official bid to the FCS Committee in November. The bid was submitted in coordination with the Ohio Valley Conference and Vanderbilt University with Vandy’s FirstBank Stadium chosen as the proposed site for the title games in 2026 (following the 2025 season) and 2027 (following the 2026 season).
FirstBank Stadium has undergone renovations and has a capacity of 30,000, which is nearly 50% higher than the current capacity at Toyota Stadium in Frisco (20,500). Renovations on Toyota Stadium will commence following the FCS National Championship game on Monday, January 6, 2025, and are expected to be finished by March 2028. Frisco was set to continue hosting the FCS title game following the 2025 (January 2026) and 2026 seasons (January 2027) as part of a contract between the city and the NCAA. With the renovations set to limit capacity for those years, it appears the NCAA is looking at all its hosting options for the FCS National Championship games.
Should Nashville win the bid to host, Frisco will have been the site of the FCS National Championship for 15 years, which is the most since the Division I split in 1978. Frisco has been the host of the FCS National Championship since 2010 after it was previously hosted by Chattanooga, Tennessee from the 1997 through 2009 seasons (13 years).
