The Montana State Bobcats (Big Sky) and Nevada Wolf Pack (Mountain West) will meet for a 2026 matchup as announced by MSU’s athletic department. The two teams will play at Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nevada on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
The two teams have met 18 previous times with Nevada holding a 12-6 lead in the all-time series dating back to 1946. The two teams met annually between 1979 and 1991 when both schools were Big Sky members. The most recent meeting occurred in 1996 with Nevada winning 31-7 at home.
With the addition of Nevada in 2026, the Bobcats will have an FBS opponent for at least three straight seasons following New Mexico (Mountain West) in 2024 and Oregon (Big Ten) in 2025. Nevada will have an FCS opponent for the sixth straight season after games against Idaho State (Big Sky) in 2021, Incarnate Word (Southland) in 2022, Idaho (Big Sky) in 2023, Eastern Washington (Big Sky) in 2024, and Sacramento State (Big Sky) in 2025.
There are over 380 future FCS-FBS matchups scheduled for the 2025 season or later including 90 known games in the 2026 season. A full listing of future FCS-FBS matchups can be found here.
