Virginia Adds Two In-State FCS Opponents To Future Schedules

The Virginia Cavaliers have added in-state FCS opponents Norfolk State and Richmond to their future schedules per FBSchedules. Virginia will play Norfolk State in 2026 and Richmond in 2028.

Norfolk State’s visit will be on Saturday, November 21, 2026 with a $420,000 guarantee according to a copy of the contract obtained by FBSchedules. It will be the first meeting of the two programs.

Norfolk State currently has two FBS teams in each of the next two seasons. They play at Charlotte and East Carolina in 2020 while facing Toledo and Wake Forest in 2021. The Spartans also have Marshall (2022), Temple (2023), and Vanderbilt (2024) on their schedules.

Richmond will travel to Charlottesville on Saturday, September 9, 2028 and receive a guarantee of $505,000 per the copy of the contract obtained by FBSchedules. Richmond and Virginia have met 34 times going back to 1893. Virginia leads the series 29-3 with two other games resulting in ties.

Virginia already has Richmond scheduled for 2022 and 2024. Virginia will play two other FCS opponents in VMI (2020) and William & Mary (2021 and 2023) in the next four seasons. Richmond will take on FBS opponents Pittsburgh (2020), Virginia Tech (2021), and Michigan State (2023) over the next four seasons.
