San Diego unveiled its 2024 schedule with 10 FCS opponents and one opponent outside NCAA Division I. The Toreros will play host to Division II Central Washington on Saturday, September 7.
The two programs have never met in football. CWU is a primary member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) but plays as an affiliate member of the Lone Start Conference. The GNAC stopped sponsoring football after the 2021 season, which led to CWU ending up in the Lone Star beginning with the 2022 season.
San Diego’s addition of Central Washington pushes the number of the FCS versus Non-Division I opponents to 55 for the 2024 season. The Pioneer Football League accounts for 18 of the 55 matchups and 10 of the 11 PFL members play at least one non-Division I opponent. Marist is the lone PFL team that hasn’t scheduled a team outside Division I.
