It was a busy day for Delaware as they announced a glut of future opponents including three FCS teams for the 2026, 2027, and 2029 seasons. Delaware is joining the FBS and Conference USA beginning with the 2025-26 academic year. Delaware will host Merrimack on Saturday, September 19, 2026, Long Island on Saturday, September 2, 2027, and Bucknell on Saturday, September 8, 2029. Delaware State was previously slated to face Delaware each of those seasons but those games have ostensibly been canceled.
Long Island and Merrimack have never faced Delaware in football. Bucknell and Delaware have met 33 times dating back to 1908. Delaware leads the all-time series 22-11 including the most recent matchup in 2012, which the Blue Hens won 19-3. There are 455 future games scheduled between FCS and FBS teams including a record 121 for the 2024 season. A full list of future FCS-FBS matchups can be found here.
