Central Arkansas (United Athletic) and Northwestern State (Southland) have rescheduled their 2026 matchup, according to FBSchedules. The two schools were scheduled to meet on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Natchitoches, Louisiana but the game has been moved to 2028. Northwestern State will now host the matchup on Saturday, September 16, 2028. UCA will also host a game on Saturday, September 18, 2027, as part of the home-and-home series. Central Arkansas holds a 10-3 lead in the all-time series dating back to 2007 when both schools were in the Southland Conference. The most recent meeting was in 2019 with UCA holding on for a 31-30 victory following NSU’s touchdown with 90 seconds left and the two-point conversion was no good.
Portland State (Big Sky) has added a 2025 game against BYU (Big 12) to its schedule, according to John Canzano with BYU confirming the game date as Saturday, August 30. The two teams previously met in 2017 with BYU winning 20-6. As a result of adding BYU, Portland State’s game against Oregon State (Pac-12) originally scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025, will be moved to a different season or canceled. Tangentially, BYU’s game against Southern Utah (United Athletic) originally slated for Saturday, September 6, 2025, has been moved to Saturday, August 30, 2031, per FBSchedules. Southern Utah will receive $650,000 for the matchup. BYU has won both games against the Thunderbirds in 2016 (37-7) and 2023 (41-16).
Wagner (Northeast) added a 2025 game at Kansas (Big 12) as revealed by the Lawrence Journal-World. The two teams are set to meet on Saturday, August 30, 2025, but that date could be changed to either Thursday, August 28 or Friday, August 29. It will be the first matchup between the two programs and Wagner will receive $450,000 for the contest. Kansas was originally scheduled to play Stephen F. Austin (Southland) on August 30 but both schools mutually agreed to cancel the game earlier this year. The Wagner-Kansas matchup moves the 2025 FCS-FBS matchup tally to 104.
South Dakota (MVFC) will play at Boise State (Mountain West) in 2026 as announced by both schools. The Coyotes will travel to Boise, Idaho on Saturday, September 19, 2026, for the second meeting between the schools. Boise State won the first meeting in the 1973 NCAA Division II Quarterfinals by a score of 53-10. There are 355 future FCS-FBS games scheduled from 2025 through 2034 with 85 matchups for 2026.
