4 Additional Cities Bid to Host FCS Championship Games

Nashville is not the only city looking to host the FCS Championship games following the 2025 and 2026 seasons, according to Inforum. Frisco, Houston, Kansas City, and St. Louis are also looking to host an FCS National Championship game as Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas undergoes renovations.

St. Louis bid to host only the 2027 game (after the 2026 season) at the Dome at America’s Center while the other four cities bid to host the 2026 (after the 2025 season) and 2027 games. Houston would Shell Energy Stadium to host the game, which is used by Texas Southern and two professional soccer teams. Nashville would use Vanderbilt’s FirstBank Stadium to host the 2026 and 2027 contests. Additional details on the Kansas City bid were not immediately known.

Despite the renovations that will commence following the FCS National Championship in January 2025, Frisco is willing to make alternative plans to keep the games. As noted by Inforum’s report, several stadiums in the Dallas area are suitable to host the title games while construction is ongoing. The 2024 season marks the 15th straight season Frisco has hosted the FCS title game, which is the most since the subdivision was created in 1978. The next highest is Chattanooga, Tennessee with 13 from 1997 through 2009.

This season’s FCS National Championship will take place on Monday, January 5, 2025. ESPN will broadcast the game with kickoff time set for 7 PM Eastern.
